One of the most valuable experiences you can have as an undergraduate is an internship. The best internships are often competitive, but can also help launch you onto your career path.

Carroll has been awarded a grant from the Great Lakes Foundation to provide pay for students in the humanities and social sciences. In other words, if your dream internship is unpaid, you can apply for compensation through Carroll. Make the most of this funding opportunity and talk to your advisors about how to land a great internship.

Kalmbach Publishing is a Waukesha based publisher of hobby and special interest magazines.  Recently bought Discover magazine and moved production from New York to Waukesha.  Sometimes hires interns.  Check this site often here.

ACLU Wisconsin for those interested in law, government or policy. Most of the interns are law students, though it does have some opportunities for undergraduates. These are very competitive and high profile opportunities. Dare to check it out here.

Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee is an umbrella group of Milwaukee area nonprofits. Search their member listings for organization websites here.

Metropolitan Milwaukee Sewerage District is a national and international leader in water treatment. They are innovators in renewable energy, program development and community education. Students with interests in these areas should look into the summer internship program here.

Menomonee Valley Partners has led the initiative to reclaim Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley– once one of the nation’s biggest brownfields. They are a public-private partnership committed to restoring and renewing Milwaukee’s toxic waste sites. Browse opportunities here.
